Chapter 30 (Syllabus & Sailor) - New Locks for the Windows

Syllabus again so soon?  Yes, he was determined to start the year out by busting through the 2nd Tier restrictions.  He wouldn't let pleasure-seeking Sailor distract him.
Or thoughts about kisses from the lovely Amanda.

Syllabus was the furthest thing from Sailor's mind as the new round began.
"Shake a leg," Candy told him.  "We don't want to be late!"

Sailor loved that he'd convinced Candy to join him on his high-sea adventures.  They were partners in crime, an apocalyptic Bonnie & Clyde!
Tina Traveller walked by, pausing momentarily to see if anyone came out and greeted her.  She wondered how Syllabus was doing.  He hadn't called her since their awkward evening.  Maybe he'd finally moved on.  She fluffed her braid and tried to squelch the surprising disappointment.
Syllabus came and pumped his fist because he'd managed a promotion to level 9.

Sailor and Candy hit up Tortuga on the way home from their successful pirateering. He stashed the goodies in the warehouse.
"What's up here?" Candy asked, checking out the place and peeking in all the nooks and crannies.
She flopped on the old sailor's hammock and swung herself around a little, then held her hand out to Sailor.  "Come here," she beckoned him.
Candy then proceeded to rock his world.  He hadn't even realized you could do that sort of thing in a hammock!

The couple spent the rest of the evening enjoying the pleasurable amenities that made Tortuga infamous.

Despite his desire to call Amanda and get to know her better, Syllabus focused on his creativity skill.  Afterwards, he took a nice, relaxing bubble bath and headed to work early so that he would be well-rested.
He headed to work primed and ready to go!

Sailor had the day off while Candy ran a job with another crew.  He was so bored, he was actually grabbed Sailor's magazine and flipped through the pictures of easels and musical instruments.  Boooooooring.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he ran into a lovely lady passing by.  Sure, he was in a relationship, but that didn't mean he couldn't make new friends, right?  Besides, she looked so cold!
They spent the afternoon hanging out.  Man, he was having a blast!

He didn't hear the door when Candy got home.  "Hey babe!" he called out with surprise when he saw her standing there.
Candy didn't bat an eyelash, but sashayed across the room and laid one on him.  She was going to make it pretty darn clear to Blondie that she had staked a claim.
"Hi, I'm Sailor's girlfriend, Candy," she turned and said to Blondie with a sickeningly sweet voice.

Blondie awkwardly tucked her hair behind her ear and glanced between Sailor and the fiery girlfriend.  "Umm.. I was actually just on my way home."
"So nice meeting you!" Candy called out as Blondie hurried from the home.  "Call before coming over next time!"
It wasn't lost on Sailor that Candy had just run off his new friend in a fit of jealousy.  He stroked her cheek.  "You don't have to worry," he told her.  "I've only got eyes for you!"

SUCCESS!  Syllabus easily nabbed his promotion.

Once an economic leader from the family rebuilds the economic structure of the region, the Business restrictions are lifted. In addition, the Open/Closed sign may be purchased and used from the Miscellaneous Decorative category. The old-style cash register may be purchased from the Electronics tab, even if these items are still restricted otherwise.

It was a small town, and gossip flew quickly.  Perhaps that's why his brother Theorem and husband Mitch strolled by.
"I knew you could do it," Theorem said, congratulating his brother on his promotion.  Tier 2 Restrictions were successfully lifted and the family could now begin on Tier 3 Restrictions. Now, Sims could visit community lots alone, but children were not to be left at home unattended.

"Are you sure Syllabus won't mind that we're using his computer to find a job?" Candy asked doubtfully.

"Sure, why not?" Sailor asked, tapping the keys slowly on the keyboard.

Candy crossed her arms. "Because we came in the window?"

Since Theorem and Mitch were already over, Syllabus went ahead and turned it into a family reunion, inviting niece and nephew, Qia and Rye.  And of course Amanda.
It as good catching up with the family.  It still amazed him how fast the kids were growing!  They were like mini-adults running around now.

Amanda stood off to the side, not wanting to interrupt his family-time.
Apparently she was unable to contain herself any longer and strode over and took him into her arms.
Theorem and Qia certainly got a chuckle out of him getting swept off his feet.
Hormones exploding in his head and romantic music tingling his ears, Syllabus dropped to his knee to propose.  When he saw the look of horror on Amanda's face, he quickly changed gears and pretended to tie his shoe and stood back up.  Amanda breathed a sigh of relief at the quick reset.

She was more than ready to move in with him, though.   Due to her savvy business acumen, her assets were apparently tied up in LLCs, because she only brought $1 with her.

To celebrate his successful business endeavors, Syllabus purchased the Bargain Buyer Warehouse. Amanda was excited to join him.
"Open the door!" Amanda said, taking her place behind the cash register.
As luck would have it, his high school love, Tina, was his first customer.
It didn't take much persuading to convince her to purchase the item.  "Great," he told her.  "You can go ahead and check out.  My girlfriend, Amanda, will take care of you at the register."
He quickly moved on to greet his Aunt Sookie.  "What can I help you with?" he asked her smoothly.
Tina looked less than thrilled to discover Syllabus' new love interest.

Running a business was hard work, Syllabus thought as he hurried around the shop.

His hard work was worth it every time he saw stars in his customers' eyes.

"This wouldn't have been possible without you," he told Amanda and dropped to his knee. He had high hopes of building a business empire with her.   He was pleased to report that she accepted his ring.

Syllabus headed to work with a pep in his step, still incredibly pleased that he'd managed to successfully reach the top of business.

It would've been better had he succceeded in round 29, but we won't go there.

"I've really loved working with you, but it's time to go after my dream," Cherry told Sailor.

"You're leaving me?" Sailor asked in shock.

Cherry shook her head. "No, just joining the Music career!"

"Phew!"

Cherry brought home Andrew from work.
It would be nice if she could ask him on an outing to string-cheese a few promotions.  But, it was still nice hanging out with someone that shared her interest in music.  Sailor couldn't carry a tune.

"What the hell are you doing in my bathroom?" Syllabus asked, stabbing Sailor with his pointy finger.  "That's illegal entry, bud!"

Sailor should focus less on his rivalry with Sailor and focus on his girlfriend's new co-worker.
He wasn't able to get a word in the conversation as Andrew regaled his new coworker with story after story of music-industry gossip.
He went to bed alone, tired of feeling like  a 3rd wheel. He hadn't been asleep long before he heard Cherry come in and slip into bed beside him.  He hoped it was a long time before they saw that putz again.

"YES!" he called out, thunking his fist on the desk.  "Got it!"
Sailor knew that he should go for one of the important jobs, like athletic or slacker, but he'd had his heart set on the Adventure career since he'd been a young boy and listening to his Da's tales of travels.  It was his destiny.
Awakened from deep sleep, Syllabus stomped into the livingroom, incensed when he saw his least-favorite cousin sitting at the computer in his home.  This was beyond the pale!
"What do you think you're doing?" he yelled.  "What are you doing in my house at 2 am? How do you keep getting in here?"

Sailor flashed a quick smile, turned on his heel and crawled through the window.

Syllabus slammed the window shut and locked it tight.

"Aren't you supposed to go to work today?" Sailor asked when he saw Cherry lounging on the couch.

"I don't feel great," she said nonchalantly.

(In retrospect, Cherry totally should have gone to work instead of taking the maternity leave.  This is why the Slacker career restriction is so important to lift! lol.  I blame you, Sailor!  Cherry is going to keep Music career, but she won't be eligible to lift the career now.)

Sailor was pleased as he greeted his brother doing a random walk-by.  "Hey man, what are you doing here?" he asked with surprise.

Teak jerked a thumb towards his house across the street.  "I live here," he reminded his brother.
Perfect time for an impromptu family reunion, he thought, calling up Rogue, Quay & his sister-in-law Lisa. Unfortunately Ocean and Pacific didn't want to come over.
The family enjoyed some home-made sammiches as Sailor made introductions.
Keep walking, buddy.
The siblings soon got to talking about their Da and the mysterious treasure map he created years ago.

"I'm going to find it!" Sailor announced.  "I poured over his writings, I have it all memorized!"
Lisa made a face as Cherry's face fell into the mac n cheese bowl.  "I think it's time to leave," she announced with a look of distaste.

Sailor should have been working out more.  He needed to be more physically fit to score a promotion as an Adventurer!
No, I'm not skipping work again.  I actually have the day off, Cherry testily informed him on his way out the door.

Syllabus was originally going to throw a huge family party before he remembered that he still couldn't throw a party.  So, he settled for a quiet, informal wedding day.
Prenup agreement signed, they exchanged rings and made their vows.

"I am never doing this again!" Cherry yelled angrily as the contractions hit her out of the blue.
Welcome to the family Plucky Tellerman, beautiful green-eyed little boy.  Sailor finally comes to Cherry's side, quite impressed with his new workout routine.
Amanda and Syllabus heard the hollering and hurried over to find the couple doting on their newborn child.
"He's lucky! It doesn't look like he inherited your nose," Syllabus told him, playing with Plucky's little toes."

"Says you," Sailor scoffed.
Meanwhile, Amanda and Cherry got along famously.
Although Amanda was caught off guard when Cherry thrust the baby into her arms and asked if she could watch him while she went to work.  She was more than happy to babysit.
She wondered when they might have a little one of their own. Amanda snuggled with the sweet little boy until it was time to lay him down for a nap.
Amanda was tidying the kitchen when Cherry returned home.

"Thanks, you were a real life saver," Cherry announced as she walked in the door.

"Any time!' Amanda told her earnestly.

"I want a baby!" Amanda announced.

Syllabus stopped short when he saw the baby bottle and the diaper on the kitchen floor.
What was it doing in here?
Grumbling under his breath, he started cleaning his kitchen.  He needed new locks for that window!

Sailor was gone on Adventures for long stretches of time.
Which meant that Cherry was over more often since she and Amanda hit it off.

Syllabus had made up his mind.  This living situation just wasn't working anymore.  "I want to move," he announced out of the blue.
"Is it that bad?" Amanda asked.  She knew the cousins didn't get along, but there hadn't been any fights recently.  "I really like it here," she admitted.
Mentally, Syllabus unpacked.  He'd been all but ready to go.  With a sigh, he put his arm around his wife.  "We'll stay," he told her.  "But there are going to have to be some changes!"
