Chapter 26 (Tesira) - One Thing Led to Another

HISS!
"Oh my gosh! I just wanted to pet you, Kitty!" Tesira glanced at Whiskers in surprise.  "Is she always like this?" she asked with some worry.

Whiskers just licked his paw.

Leaving her Mom to deal with the feral cat, Tesira headed to school.
Melissa worked some cold cases.  She needed 2 logic points and 3 body points to earn her promotion to Savior of the City.
All that hard work thinking made her hangry.  At least no one was around to make fun of her for eating yummy Grilled Cheese!

When Tesira finally got out of school, Melissa beckoned her over to head to the Military Depot.

"Thanks for not leaving me this time!" her daughter said with a pinch of sass.

Melissa put the car into reverse and glanced at her. "Well, you got your coat on faster this time, didn't you."

Her daughter groaned melodramatically.
"See you soon," Melissa jogged over towards the obstacle course.
Tesira was glad Tosha was at the base. She met her in school and wanted to be friends.  Nothing like bonding over gossip.  She was just in the process of gossiping about her cousin Teak, not seeing him approach.

Teak saw the girls giggling about something as he walked up.  "Hey, what are we laughing about?" he asked.

Both girls turned bright red and shook their heads. "Nothing!" Tesira said, quickly exchanging a glance with Tosha.  The girls broke out laughing again until Tesira put her fingers to her lips and shushed her friend.

Teak glanced between them.  "That didn't look like nothing," he said with a frown.
"Believe me, it was silly," she told him. "How are you doing, cuz?" she asked, changing the topic.
Teak let it slide, thinking they were probably talking about embarrassing girl stuff.
It was always nice to see the soup kitchen being used to bring the community closer together!

Melissa had pushed herself hard, but wasn't as far as she would have liked.  She was in the process of pulling herself up on the last bit of the obstacle course when her fingers slipped.  With a cry of frustration, she fell.
The snow was cold.  Melissa glanced up at the wall she'd slipped from.  She'd wanted to finish strong, but she was too tired and sore to keep this up.
Shoulders slumped, she stood up and tapped out.  The wall had beaten her tonight.  But she'd be back soon to shred the obstacle course!
"Did you have a fun time?" she asked Tesira as they headed to the car.

Tesira shrugged. "Yeah, I hung out with Tosha and Teak."
"I'm going to go soak in the tub," Melissa told her daughter.

Tesira grinned when she saw Benito happen to walk by.  "I'll be up in a bit!" she called after her Mom.
"Hey baby!" she said, launching herself into his arms the moment her Mom shut the door.

"Whiskers, go keep an eye on them," she said, leaning down to pet the little kitty.  With a sigh she stood up.  "Alright, I know! She's growing up. She deserves some space."  Making a face, she headed into the bathroom and grabbed the
Tesira wasn't even sure what happened.  One minute the were goofing around and having fun and the next minute, they were having a fight.
"I can't believe you gave me a noogie!" Benito accused.  "That hurt!"

Tesira laughed until she realized her boyfriend was really upset.  "Aw, Benny, I'm sorry. I was just playing around," she told him.

"You're always playing around," he said with an indignant sniff.

"Aw come on, don't be like that!" she pleaded, reaching for his hand.
But he pulled away and went home.

"Come on, Mom.  Dinner time," Tesira announced, grabbing a plate of grilled cheese from the fridge.
Melissa shuffled over and picked up a plate. "My favorite!" she said cautiously, noting her daughter's sour mood.
"What is wrong with boys anyway?" Tesira demanded out of nowhere.  "We're joking around and then all of a sudden he's upset and runs home.  What gives?"

Melissa chuckled. "I wouldn't know about that," she teased.  "I could tell you a lot about women though!"

Tesira groaned.  "Mooooooom!"
Melissa sighed.  "You remind me so much of your mother. Full of life, laughter and love.  If Benito can't handle that, then perhaps he's not the one for you." She reached across the table and patted her daughter's hand.  "But, in my experience, things usually work out for the best!"

Melissa was still sore from her massive workout.  Getting out of bed had taken her awhile.  "I'm getting too old for this," she muttered as she headed to the car to drive into work.

Deciding she needed some space, Tesira spent the afternoon with her new friend Sophie.

"Tesira! Don't throw it so hard!" Sophie begged, holding her hands up to block her face.

She sighed.  This wasn't really that fun, anyways.
She knew she wanted to see Benito to talk.  So, they made plans to sneak out and spend the night together.

"Would you happen to know anything about the sound of feet on the stairs at 2 in the morning?" Melissa asked her daughter knowingly.

"Hmm," Tesira hedged.  "Maybe it was one of the cats."

"Mmmmhmm, I imagine so," Melissa replied with a straight face.  "So, how is Benito doing?"
"We're going to go to college together!" Tesira said excitedly.  "We have a plan!"
Way to go Tesira! She got a number of great scholarships!

Everyone in the family came over to wish her good luck in college.  She was slightly disappointed her best friend, and cousin, Sookie wouldn't be going with her.  Maybe Teak would wind up joining her at college.
She laid in her room, thinking about how much her life would change after this night.

She headed to college before her Mom got off work.

Melissa was going to miss Tesira. She threw herself into her exercise routine, hoping that it would wear her out.  It was so weird being alone in the house!
Well, at least she still had the cats!

Exhausted, she collapsed into bed and slept.
She wasn't sure what had woken her, but her senses tingled.  Someone was in the house.  She quietly reached for her gun on the nightstand.  Being a cop came with perks!
"VIVI!"
Melissa groaned and then hurried to the bathroom to shower off.  Seeing Vivi's ghost had scared the pee out of her! Literally!

WOO HOO! Melissa managed to blow the whistle on the questionable retirement funds. Sure, it would've been nice to have a nice cushion when she finally retired, but that wasn't the way to do it!

Restrictions Lifted:

May not purchase smoke detectors, fire sprinklers, burglar alarms or car alarms

Only Sims in LE may use Fingerprint Scanner

With Tesira gone away at school, she invited her old friend over to celebrate.
 One thing led to another.

Bright and early the next day, Melissa prepared to go to work.
 Up!
 Up and away!

Melissa called up a friend who probably knew a thing or two about what she was going through.
"Meadow! Thank you for coming over!" she greeted her old friend.  They were cousins by marriage,  their spouses long deceased, but good friends from all the years they'd spent socializing with their families.
"The house just feels so empty!" she told Meadow.  "How did you deal with it when Tetris went off to college."
"I was lucky," Meadow told her.  "At least Sookie was home.  I bet you're going stir crazy!"
 And then,
One thing led to another.
