Chapter 24 (Urbain) - Swab the Deck!

Allyn couldn't believe she'd gotten pregnant so quickly!  She wondered what Urbain would say...
Urbain's first day of school!  He was looking forward to meeting kids his age.

"School today, Mom!" Teak said as he passed by her grave.

"Hey! Awesome! I'm gonna be a dad again!" Urbain said cheerfully.
Allyn wasn't sure what she was expecting, but Urbain had only congratulated her on her pregnancy and then taken off to play in the tub.
"That's what I get for having a baby with a man-child," she muttered under her breath as she scrubbed the countertops.  Urbain hadn't said anything about their future or making plans for their baby.
Despite her frustration at times, Urbain always knew how to playfully tease her out of being upset with him.
"Only 30 minutes before the kid gets home," Urbain said, pulling her down onto the bed with him with a waggle of his eyebrows.

Urbain trained in the freezing temperatures. He only needed to be able to run faster than the police.

"Pirate Bear wants to know if you've done your homework yet," Allyn said, pretending to make the bear talk.

Teak rolled his eyes.  "That's not his name!" he said testily, taking his bear from her hands.
"Come on Capt Jack," he said, sitting down and singing a sea chanty with him.

"Row harder, men! We've sprung a leak!"

Allyn sighed as she laid down on the loveseat.  It had lumps in weird places and a spring poking her hip.  But she didn't have the heart to pull little Teak from the bed.  With a sigh, she laid down her head and fell asleep.

"Aye, I know Capt Jack," Urbain said to the watchful bear.  "I've got to take care of my crew."  He saw Allyn work hard to take care of their home and to take care of his boy.  It wasn't an easy task running this ship.
He started by repairing the tub finally and giving it a good scrubbing.  "Time to swab the deck, you yellow-livered landlubber!"
Then, he grabbed a few boxes of toaster pastries and stuck them in the oven.  Those should be relatively hard to screw up cooking!
"Allyn, time for breakfast," he called cheerfully as he set out a few plates.
Watching Urbain toss the pastries on the plates had to have been one of the sexiest things she'd seen. He always claimed he had a black thumb when it came to cooking!  ("No, literally," he would always tease.  "Burned me thumb bad cooking!")
"And today, in class..." Teak started to tell his Dad all about the cool things they would do in school today, but apparently his Dad wasn't listening.

He slid a black box in front of Allyn.
Teak didn't know why a girl would get so excited about a dumb box, but Allyn sure did.  She started crying.  He glanced at his Dad, who seemed to be waiting for Allyn to say something.

Adults were weird, he thought, eating his pastry quietly.
"I will!" Allyn said, holding up a new sparkly ring on her finger.   She gazed loving in his Dad's eyes.
Ew, barf! Teak thought, shoving in another bite.
"Will what?" Teak asked, not understanding the adult drama at the table.

"Allyn's just agreed to marry me," Teak told his son.
"What?!" Teak yelped, dropping his fork.

Despite Teak's rather underwhelming response to their engagement, Urbain and Allyn tied the knot.

Urbain was happy to run into his half-brother, Kennedy Cox while outside exercising.

"I was just jogging in the area!" Kennedy called.

They spent the afternoon catching up, outside.  Allyn had given Urbain quite an earful about Kennedy being rude to her the last time they'd run into each other.

"Did you get your homework done, Teak?" Allyn asked over dinner.

Teak stubbornly didn't reply.

She sighed.  "I know you're not happy about all the changes, but.."

"You're not my Mom!" Teak cried, throwing down his spoon and running to the bathroom.

"We're never getting married, are we Capt Jack?" Teak said, taking comfort playing with his childhood toy.
"Never! Getting! Married! NEVER!" he said while banging the bear against the floor.

Allyn gave birth in the middle of the night, while the boys slept soundly.
Welcome to the family Sailor Sharp!

Urbain was excited to play with his newborn son.
But he was also taking an active role in his care.  After all, he could handle a few nappies, couldn't he?!

He also began working on a registry of all his hidden booty.  It would be quite unfortunate to forget where he'd stashed some goods!

"Bye Allyn!" Teak called as he headed off to school.
"Bye Mom!" he said, right before hopping on the bus.

Allyn straightened the house and took care of little Sailor while Teak was at school.
She was surprised when Teak came home in tears.  "They said I was the worst student in the whole school!" he cried.
"Oh sweetheart," Allyn said, giving him a hug. "I'm sure they didn't say that!"

"They did! Right in front of everyone, too!" he sobbed.

"How about we play a game and then you go do your homework," she suggested. "Red Hands, best out of 3 wins!"
Playing with Allyn put him in a better mood and Teak happily went and tried to finish his homework.
At bedtime, he headed up to his brand new room!

Aw, little Sailor grew up cute!
So did Teak!

Now that Teak was older, he didn't mind helping Allyn out with his little brother.

And baby makes two!  Allyn was surprised to find herself pregnant again!

Urbain was surprised to see how grown up Tetris and Sookie were!
"Hey, how's it going Syllabus?" Teak greeted his young cousin.
Sookie and Tesira gossiped about their cousin's growth spurt.  "Did you hear how deep his voice got?" Tesira giggled.
All the kids got together and spent the afternoon talking.

*AN: I accidentally forgot to play the Urbain household and wound up playing it out of order. #spoileralert: look how much Tetris has grown! ;)

  1. Glad that Teak started to accept Allyn in his dad's life. She probably spends way more time with him anyway!
Welcome to Sailor, he's so cute.
It's good that Urbain is working his way up the Criminal field, wonder if he can stay out of the playtub long enough to reach the top?!

    1. Allyn does spend way more time with Teak. Urbain is usually busy skilling or playing in the bathtub. lol.
I LOVE Sailor! His coloring and hair took me by surprise. Lol.
Urbain will be the Scourge of the 7 Seas! Except, I don't think there's a sea in Calamity Canyon. Hmm... maybe a pond?

    2. The Predator of Ponds!

Haha. Good update. I'm glad Teak had his little melt-down, and then accepted Allyn. Allyn isn' this mother. She's his father's wife, and mother to his siblings. If he can accept that, they'll get along famously.
