Chapter 24 (Urias) - Children Grow Up When You're Not Looking!

Urias woke, quietly slipping from the bed to get ready for work.  He tried to shut the door as silently as possible, but the hinges squeaked.
And so Marisa's alarm clock went off.

With two small children, her day was full of caring for the young ones and cleaning.   She hardly had a moment to herself.

Urias was hard at work on his How To Clean manual.  Not everyone knew the ins & outs of cleaning like he did.

With his time off, he tried to spend it with his sons.  Children had a way of growing up when you weren't even looking.

"I can't wait for my first day of school!" Theorem announced.  "I hope they give us a lot of homework!"
Marissa barely managed to contain her chuckle.  Theorem was just like his daddy.  "I doubt they'll be giving you much homework your first year," she told him.
"How do they expect us to learn?!" he asked indignantly.
Marissa excused herself to check on Syllabus.

His first day! Theorem didn't think he'd ever been so excited before as he stepped on the bus.

Marissa's neighbor, cousin Urbain's new girlfriend, came over to chat.  The two hit it off instantly.  "So, tell me, what's it like living with Urbain?  Is he as wild as he  seems?" she pressed the young lady for gossip.

"He's a sweetheart," Allyn sighed.  "He is playful, loud and has a heart of gold!"

Theorem worked hard on his homework, making sure all his letters were straight and even.  He made a face when his little brother grabbed his homework and tugged it.  "NO!" he shouted.  "You wrinkled the page! Now I have to start over!"

Marissa checked the newspaper daily for a position.  She was beginning to get frustrated when nothing appeared.
She made sure to keep her skills honed.

Urias finished his How-To book and mailed it off.  He intended to complete an instructional manual for each skill he mastered.

They had finally managed to fully enclose a small room upstairs for Theorem.  His mom worried about him falling off the sides with no railings, but his Dad argued that he was smart enough than to play at the edge.
It wasn't much, but it was his very own room!

Marisa was engrossed in the article she was reading.
She would be embarrassed to admit to Urias that it was a entertainment gossip magazine, not an intellectual review, so she made sure to hide it at the bottom of the magazine rack.

Theorem shows off that although he is a serious kid, he is still a playful kid at heart.

"Don't touch anything, you might break it," he told his cousin, Teak.

"Boooooring!" Teak complained, eyeing the robot bear.
It was nice to see the family get altogether.
It was especially important to give the younger generation plenty of time to get to know each other.  Family was important!

  1. ha, I love how Theorem is so OCD like his Dad. Nice that he has his own room, even if he doesn't let his cousin touch anything in it! :D
Poor Marissa, she just wants to hang out in coffee shops/cocktail bars and catch up on her gossip like a normal person (oh wait, that's me). :D
Hopefully she'll find her job soon and she can get out more. :)

    1. I loved making him OCD like his Dad! I'm so glad to be getting these kids rooms of their own! Sleeping on a couch does not make for happy children! Lol. We need a cocktail bar in the town now! :D :D :D
