Chapter 23 (Urbain) - Ghost of Marsha

Urbain stared at the phone, already regretting the decision he'd had to make.
Teak needed him, though.
Urbain stumbled along as a parent, trying to take care of Teak as best he could.  It was hard without Marsha, though.

The love of his life, Marsha.
Although the place was a mess, he still tried to do right by the kid, trying to teach him to walk, talk and use the bathroom.
He even got down on the floor and played with him.

In desperate need of friends, he took to greeting people that passed by.
Rose was a pretty cool chick and could see them being best friends.
She offered to hook him up with a friend, some Sunny Chen.  Oh how he longed to say yes, but in the end, he didn't think he was quite ready.   Plus, the rules say you can't accept blind dates, contact numbers or jobs from townies until Intelligence is lifted.

He threw himself into being the fun dad.
Why are you looking at me like that? I'm not the one making a mess there!
He didn't even make Teak go to bed at a certain time.  The kid went to sleep when he wanted to.
Literally no supervision at all.

But just because his parenting style was different than the usual parent didn't mean he was completely hands off.

It was one of those nights when Urbain and the kid had stayed up late goofing around together.
He was surprised when the kid hopped up and said "Mama" then started running through the kitchen.  Broke his heart that he was raising him without Marsha.  She would've been such a good mom!
"Sleep well kid," he said, kissing the boys head as he tucked him in to bed.  With a pang, he wondered how Marsha would feel about how he was raising the kid.
He was standing in the bathroom, hand on the zipper and about to relieve himself when a vision of Marsha appeared before his very eyes.

"BATHE YOUR SON!" she shrieked before disappearing.
He was so scared, he wet himself.
But he bathed Teak the next morning, scrubbing his dirty skin until he shined.
He should probably do something about all the trash, too.

"Aw kid, don't puke! I just bathed you!" he said, making a face.
Urbain then cleaned the dirty bathroom.
He hadn't cooked a meal since Marsha had passed on.  Good thing she stocked the freezer full of leftovers, he thought, taking a bite of slightly frostbit pancakes.

His family headed up the stairs just in time.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" they cheered and sang.
"Blow the candles out!"
Urbain couldn't believe his son was a child now! Where had the time gone?

He wasn't sure what happened between his half-brother Kennedy and Marissa, but it was clear the two did not like each other.
Finally the party wound down and Urbain and Teak headed to bed, cosleeping in the only bed in the flat.

His cousin Urias and his new wife apparently did not get the memo.

On a whim, Urbain called up a chick he hadn't talked to in forever. He remembered thinking she was beautiful, but he'd been so consumed by his passion with Marsha that he'd never followed up on it.

"I'm not sure if you remember me," he said awkwardly.

Not only did she remember him, she was eager to reconnect.
He told her his sad tale, losing his young love in the most traumatic way possible and then raising his son the best he could.
"Aw, that's so sad!" she told him, clutching her hand to her chest.  "You poor thing!"

Like father, like son.
"Hey kid, I wanted to talk to you," Urbain said, lowering himself to his son's eye level.

"Yeah Dad?" Teak asked.

"I met a pretty cool lady and I like her.  I wanted to know if you wanted to meet her."
Teak mulled it over.  Thankfully, Teak was young enough that he didn't remember losing his mom, but it had always been just the two of them.  "Ooookay," he said hesitantly.
"Come on over!" Urbain called, surprising Teak when the blonde walked around the corner nervously.

"Hi Teak," she said with a hopeful smile.  "Your Dad has told me all about you! I hope we can be friends!"
Teak just launched into a lengthy explanation of his favorite teddy pear, the pirate when Allyn shrieked in surprise.

"MY SON!" the ghost of Marsha said angrily before disappearing.
"Boolprop!" Allyn said, trying to catch her breath. "Ghost! I saw a ghost!"
"Aw, you saw Marsha!" Urbain said, giving his girl a quick hug.  "She's mostly harmless. Sometimes she pops in and tells me how to take care of the kid better."

"Oh my plumbbob," Allyn said, still in shock. "A ghost!"
Urbain invited her to bed to soothe her nerves.  With the boy sleeping peacefully on the couch, he thought it might be time to make his move.
"Hey, Kid! Go to the bathroom real quick!" Urbain called out loudly.

Teak rubbed his eyes sleepily.  "But I was sleeping," he said groggily.  But, managed to stand up and stumble to the bathroom.
(Seriously? The kid was sleeping. I think it's funny when they kick the kids out so they can woohoo)
"DAD! I'm TIRED!" Teak complained.
Allyn left shortly after and Teak hopped right into bed with his dad.

"Come on! Allyn's coming over! I want to take a shower!" Urbain called grumpily.
Teak took his time in the bathtub.  "I'm washing like you taught me!" he called out.  Sweet Revenge.
Urbain greeted her with a passionate kiss.
He was stoked when she said she would move in with him.

He managed to snag his old job, too!

Things were looking up for him!

"MY SON!" Marsha wailed before disappearing.

"What's that smell?" Teak asked, wandering into the kitchen.  He smelled something cheesy and delicious.

"I made some macaroni," she told him.  "Time to eat!"

He looked perplexed.  "You made it? Like cooked it?" he asked.

Allyn paused and looked at the young boy.  "Yes, why? What do you normally eat?" she asked.

"Oh boy!" Teak said, clamboring up into his chair.  "Dad usually just warms up some leftovers from the freezer."

Allyn felt her heart squeeze for the motherless boy.  "Oh, you poor dear!" she said. "I'll make you dinner every night!" she promised.
Allyn watched in horror as the guys shoveled the macaroni into their mouths.  Apparently she would need to help them with table manners, too, she thought as she took a small bite.

*AN: In keeping with the negligent theme of poor Urbain & Teak's household, I completely forgot to take out the Education Restrictions before playing this house.  Lucky Teak didn't need to go to school!

  1. I think Urbain did a pretty good job of raising Teak to kidhood all things considered.
I love Marsha popping and making parental suggestions! ha, too funny.
Allyn looks like she's going to fit in nicely here. :)

    1. There are some families that don't even managed to potty train the toddlers. He did great! Lol. Marsha popping in and helping was great. Not sure she likes Allyn moving in, though. Lol

  2. You'd think one sim could manage one toddler, with no job or other distractions, and yet, it is really hard. I think he did quite well, not only in keeping the kid alive, and giving him at least two toddler skills, but also getting a step-mom for him.

Marsha may scare her, and claim "ownership" of the boy, but she really loves her son, and I think it's more of a command - Take care of my son!

Maybe her son will be the one to lift Paranormal restrictions, and lay her soul to rest.

    1. Lol. We're lucky Urbain and Teak both survived toddlerhood. I kept wondering if we would get the killer fly swarms!

      Marsha, Marsha, Marsha! Lol
