Chapter 28 (Theorem) - Always Be My Baby

Sometimes Mitch got a little stir crazy here in Calamity Canyon.  There was nothing to do!
But then Theorem did something romantic and made it all all better.

Sometimes Marissa got a little stir crazy here in Calamity Canyon.  There was nothing to do!  She missed Urias...

"That'll teach that punk to mess with the Sharps!" Sailor muttered as he kicked over the trash can.  "I hope you get roaches!"

In truth, Marissa had her hands full with the twins.
She only wished that Urias had lived long enough to see them.

Syllabus noticed the trash spilled all over the place when he got home from school and stood up the trash can.
He had a good idea of who did it, he thought grumpily.

With his new promotion, Theorem was ready to celebrate.
Perhaps it was time for a remodel...
Pull yourselves from the liplock to check out the building materials...

"It's time to start with something new," Theorem told his husband.
They worked out a perfect design.

An open floorplan was key.  They loved the window lit entryway.
A spare bedroom would be helpful for busy morning.
Up the stairs led to a refurbished kitchen/dining area.
The living area was refurbished, as well.
The loft with a small den w/ patio addition.
The bedroom/nursery.
Time for bed little ones!

"Where did all these roaches come from?!" Marissa cried.  "Who would do this to us?!"

Syllabus pointed to the trash can that was knocked over again.  Those Damn Sharps!

"It's a Snow Day, we should be productive and go into the Warehouse," Marissa told Syllabus.

"But I don't feel like going into work today,"he complained, crossing his arms stubbornly.
"Young man! You need to apply yourself if you want to make something of yourself!"

Syllabus made a face.  "Easy for you to say, you've never had to work," he grumbled.

Marissa gasped, hurt beyond belief by his careless words.  "Do you know how long I looked for a job? You are so lucky to have landed a job in the business field!"

"Back off! Quit trying to live your life through me!" he said angrily before stomping away.
After their fight, his mom hadn't said anything more about taking him into work early.  When the carpool honked for him, he knew he had to go in or get in even more trouble.
Marissa watched her son head down to the carpool and sighed.  He'd poked at her one regret in this life.  She'd always wanted to run a business, but had never been afforded that opportunity.  Oh sure, she was glad she'd been able to stay at home and raise her sons, but sometimes she felt the sting of disappointment.

It'd been a long day at the office, so Theorem was glad to be home, with a promotion, no less!  He was quite pleased his coworker came home with him.  He hoped to impress her.
While Theorem talked to his coworker about how important his family was to him, and how he always strove to find the perfect balance between work and family time, Syllabus had a strange feeling...
Aw, happy birthday!
Not the best start to adulthood.

Good news is that Theorem managed to impress the coworker and befriend her.  Bad news was that she got frostbitten and immediately left before he could invite her inside to warm up.
"Hey sorry you didn't get a chance to go to university," Theorem said, patting his brother on the arm.

Maybe now isn't the best time to bring it up, Theorem.  Give him some time to get over his depression.

"I heard there was a place on the edge of town that was a great place to hang out," Syllabus said.  "Now that I'm an adult, maybe we could all go there and check it out."
"Really?" Theorem said, with a disapproving tone.  "Why in the world would you want to go to a place like that?"
Syllabus turned towards his brother-in-law, Mitch.  "Please?" he asked.

Mitch shot his husband a look.  "I think it would be fun.  I wouldn't mind a night out on the town, too!"  This was the perfect way to keep him from going stir-crazy.  "I'm in!"

"Have fun boys," Marissa said as they prepared to leave.
A night out on the town with the guys.  This was going to be great!  Syllabus was already dreaming about meeting someone special.  Someone to replace the hole that Tina Traveller left in his heart after she dumped him.
Something to lift his mood after forgetting to send in his college applications.
Tortuga!

Not sure if that's quite the way to celebrate.  But it was a great way to build creativity & Syllabus wanted to gain a skill point.  He would need to learn to tell creative lies to be a better salesman.
He met up with Mitch at the bar.  "You should try the Atomic Cocktail. I've already had two!" he said happily, holding up three fingers.
"Yeah, sure," he said, nodding at the bartender. "I'll take what he's having!"  He attempted to appear mature and sophisticated.
"Thanks," he said when she put the drink down in front of him.  He picked it up and took a drink and nearly spit it out with surprise.  With real effort, he managed to swallow it down. "Whoa!" he said, shaking his head head.  "There's definitely a kick."

"Isn't it great?!" Mitch asked happily, waving at the bartender for another drink.

Syllabus looked around.  "Hey, where's Theorem?" he asked.

Mitch glanced around, surprised when he didn't see his husband.  "Where did he get to? He's had a few drinks, too."
"Looks like it's time to get my brother home," Syllabus said, the most sober of the bunch. "How much do I owe you?"

He wasn't sure how he'd never noticed how cute their bartender was as he settled the bill with her.  He made sure to tip her really well.

"Oh hey, thanks Mister..." she said, pocketing the generous tip.

"Syllabus. Nice to meet you."

The boys stumbled home and all collapsed into drunk slumber the moment they stepped inside.

Since the boys were all sleeping in, Marissa spent the morning with the toddlers working on their toddler skills.

Oh my goodness. That is A LOT of roaches.  What the heck happened?!  Side note: I think the dog was eating them. Ew! Lol

Theorem was making great progress working his way up the ranks.  He felt confident he would reach top of career quickly.

Syllabus' focus was more on finding a girl and less on work.  He invited a couple girls he knew over, pleased that they agreed to come over to hang out even though he had only met them a few times.

When he greeted them outside, he noticed a cute passerbyer and asked her to join their get together, too.

Out of all of them, he was most attracted to Gina.  He wasn't sure what it was about her that drew him to her.  There was something almost familiar that he couldn't quite put his finger on.

He took the time to get to know her a little better, not even realizing he was ignoring his other guests.
Apparently there wasn't much to do outside but spray roaches.  Technically, they shouldn't have been doing that since Science isn't unlocked yet.  Bad guests! Bad!

Quickly befriending Gina, he invited her in.

"Hey, you're not still down about not going to college, are you?" Theorem interrupted him out of the blue.

Syllabus distractedly watched Mindy walk up the stairs. "Uh, no, I'm good," he told his brother.  "Excuse me."

They spent the afternoon goofing around.

Oh snap. I forget about his guests.  His very cold guests.

"OW! My eyes! They burn!" The silly girl accidentally sprayed herself.

Tickle.
Flirt.
Kiss.
"I'm really glad I met you," Gina told him, stroking his hand as they cuddled on his bed.

"Me too," Syllabus told her.
Unfortunately, it was hard to find a private spot for romance.

"Sorry, don't mind me," Theorem said, sneaking into the room to put his daughter to bed.
"I'm sorry, I really need to get my own place," Syllabus whispered in apology.

His mom snored loudly above them.

"Yeah, I really need to get my own space."

Gina giggled.

The drawback of having a bedroom/nursery en suite was the early wake-up calls.

"So? Don't keep us in suspense! How did it go?" Mitch asked the next morning eagerly.
"Guys, I think I'm in love!" Syllabus announced.

At family gatherings, the teens tended to hang out in groups.
Cousins reacquainted themselves.
The older generation shared favorite family memories.

And the next generation aged up.

Poor tyke didn't make it down to the cake.
"You can put me down, Dad," Qia said dryily.
"Dad! I'm not a baby anymore! I can walk!" she protested again.
"DAD!"

Now the new generation of children could begin to get acquainted.  It did not look like Sparkle & Ryu hit it off.

Ryu played with the little horsey.
When he turned his back to grab the Servo Bear, Qia came in and started playing with it.
"HEY! I was playing with that!" he complained, dropping the Servo Bear and reaching for the horsey.

"It was on the floor when I walked in. I'm playing with it now," Qia argued.

The two bickered back and forth for a bit before tormenting each other.

Syllabus was actually proud he was making headway at the Warehouse

Mitch pulled his arm out from under Theorem's neck.  "Morning, hun," he said quietly.

Theorem yawned widely.  "Morning."
"We need to get more space," Mitch said, feeling bad that the twins were forced to sleep on the old couch and recliner.  "Maybe it's time to talk to Syllabus about moving out."

"I thought I would take you two to the tent school your grandfather started almost two decades ago," Marissa told the children proudly.

"But, we were gonna play," Ryu complained.

"Tsk, tsk. There's always time to play after you complete your studies," Marissa told him gently.
Marissa gave the twins a tour and talked to them more about their grandfather.
But they had too much pent up energy to sit still and listen.  Soon, they were off and running around.

"Did you two listen to grandma?" Mitch asked as he walked everyone home.

"YES!" the twins chorused in unison.

Marissa smiled at the children before turning to her son-in-law.  "Thank you for taking us. It was good to see the schoolroom again." She always felt close to Urias when she was there.
Well look what the cat dragged in.  Tina approached slowly, taking a deep breath before ringing the doorbell.
Syllabus was shocked when he saw her standing there.  "Tina?" he asked, breathlessly.  It'd been so long since he'd seen her.  They'd just been a couple kids playing at love.
But she was still so achingly beautiful.

"Um.. you look cold," he told her. "Come inside."

Go Theorem, Go!

"You look well!" he told her, looking her up and down.  "Beautiful as ever."

"You too," she told him hesitantly.  "I wasn't sure if you would want to see me," she admitted.  "After how I left things before."

"No! You're always welcome here," Syllabus told her quickly.  "It's good to see you! We can still be friends!"
We can still be friends, we can still be friends, we can still be friends, Syllabus repeated to himself.
"Good game buddy," he told her, congratulating himself on keeping things in the friend zone.  Best friends forever.

Tina glanced down, then caught his gaze.  "What if I don't want to be friends?" she asked him.

Syllabus took the hit straight in the heart.  It was like she'd broken up with him all over again.  "Why'd you come over then?" he asked brusquely, prepared to turn away.

"No!'" she said quickly, reaching out to him. "I mean, what if I want you back?" she told him.  "I miss you."
He let himself be drawn in closer for a small, tender kiss.
All those feelings came flooding back.  He'd been kidding himself to think he could just be friends with her.
The small tender kiss led to a passionate embrace as he pulled her tight against his body.

Theorem gasped when he happened to walk by and see his younger brother making out with Tina, of all people!  Hadn't she done enough damage the first time around?!

Syllabus practiced his speech until he felt like he had it just right.
He was glad his family came over for his announcement.
Aw, old friends Marissa & Allyn.  Now these two ladies are best friends forever.
Qia & Ryu try to make friends with cousins Sparkle & Tetris.
"It's been a long time coming," Syllabus said sadly.

"I know. I knew this day would come, but it's still so hard!" Marissa said, wiping a tear from her eye.  "You'll always be my baby, no matter how old you get!"
"And you'll always be my Mom," he told her, hugging her.  "It's just time for me to move out and start my own life."

*AN: Mitch was bringing Qia downstairs to the cake when she aged up in his arms.  She literally starting jumping up and down on him as he walked down the ladder.
I wasn't the only one surprised.  Look how surprised Tetris is.
Not surprisingly, the game crashed a little bit after this, so that's why the kiddos have different outfits.

  1. BWAHAHAHAAAAAAA! The birthday glitches were hilarious! I loved how you made it the father being unwilling to put down his "baby."

Good chapter! And will Syllabus wind up with Tina, or Gina? Hmmm...

I eagerly await the next one.

Ooooh. Who will Syllabus marry?! Stay tuned, same Sim-time, same Sim-channel! :D
