Chapter 17 - Getting Lucky!

Wasabi cried a little bit inside when she realized she was pregnant... again...
Ever careful with her image, she prepared for her pregnancy announcement for the press.
"Wait? You're pregnant?" Vivi asked, shocked as she listened to her mother's speech.

Vito had a hankering to have his first kiss today. And he knew just the girl he wanted to share it with! He called up Meadow to see if she could come over.
"Hi," she said. "Thanks for inviting me over!"
It was a little hard romancing his girl in front of his parents' watchful eyes.
So he asked her outside to have a snowball fight.
Once safely out of the parental view, he laid the charm on thick.  "So, you think I could kiss you?" he asked.

Meadow batted her eyes flirtatiously and shrugged. "I dunno, maybe," she told him.
 So Vito went for it.

"Oh my booprop!" Meadow said, cringing away. "I didn't think you were actually going to do it!"
"What the heck?" he asked her, frustrated at her hot and cold signals.

Now that Xerxes was an elder, he couldn't run to the grocery store anymore, so Camryn did the grocery run.. (And a quick check of the rules showed I was supposed to be taking another friend or family member with me to community lots. No more solo visits!)
While she was there, she happened to overhear an odd exchange in the shadows between Joe Carr, Wasabi's political rival, and Gretchen Legende.  "We'll bury her," Joe said triumphantly, shaking Gretchen's hand.

Without waiting to hear more, Camryn raced home.

That's right. It's blocked because only people in politics are supposed to use the Teleprompter!

Camryn prepared dinner, the odd conversation she'd heard playing over and over again in her mind.  She thought she should tell Wasabi.
But her sisterinlaw was so distracted dealing with her pregnancy, so there didn't seem to be a good time to tell her.
"QUIT GIVING ME NOOGIES!" Vivi screamed, tackling Vito and putting him in a headlock.

 Sleeping arrangements. Sleep well Sharps!

It was just so hard having a baby this late in her life and her career, Wasabi thought as she cried in the bathroom.  And these hormones were killing her!  Splashing her face, she got ready for work.  She had a campaign to run!

"Vivi totally embarrassed me in front of my girl yesterday!" Vito complained.  "I bet Meadow never wants to talk to me again!"
"You need to be nicer to her.  You can't always roughhouse. You're growing up!" his Mom told him.  "She's your cousin and she'll be living here a long time with you!" she added.

Not if I reach the top of the Law career, he thought sullenly, still ticked off that Meadow got mad at him for some reason and wouldn't return his call.

"Look, I'm sorry I overreacted yesterday. I was just embarrassed that you kept giving me a noogie in front of your girlfriend."

Vito shrugged. "She's not my girlfriend. But, I'm sorry, too. I shouldn't have acted like a jerk."
"Friends again?" she asked, hesitantly opening her arms up to him.

"Friends again," he agreed, pulling her in for a hug.
Their carpool came at the same time.  "Lame hat, though!" he told her as they hopped in the car.
"What?" she asked, turning to look at him with surprise. "What's wrong with it?!"

Vito snickered.  "Not a hard hat!" he told her.

You just need more creativity points, Xerxes! You can do it!

"Stop pressuring me!" Xerxes cried, traumatized by being called over to this side of the room for the millioneth time in hopes he would pick up the fiddle.

Wasabi gave birth, surprising Vito.
"Hi little brother," Vivi said, tickling his toes.  "What's his name?" she asked.

"Urbain Sharp," Wasabi announced.
"Here, hold him for me real quick," Wasabi said, unloading the newborn off on her daughter.

Just a cute picture of Camryn and Urias playing football.  Ah, the youth! Such an idyllic time for frolicking and play!

BAM! Get it Wasabi!
The two actually had a very productive conversation.  This is just another example of how Wasabi tended to scowl all the time.  It was going to be hell on her wrinkles when she aged up!

"Mama! The baby's naked!" Urias exclaimed, shocked by the infant's nudity.

Wasabi invited her new friend in for a game of chess and logic.
Peter came home with Xerxes and grabbed the fiddle.  Speaking of the fiddle, where's Xerxes? I want him to play on it.
Ah, there he is. Crying by the trash and frozen solid.  I think this might constitute as elder abuse!

Good job reaching top of your teen career Vito! What are you so upset about?!

Urias gathered up a stack of bowls half as tall as he was.  Careful!

Vivi begins working on her mechanical skill. It will come in handy in her career later down the road.

"This actually isn't that hard, is it?" Wasabi asked, rocking the baby and feeding him a bottle.  "What were you complaining about all those years ago?!"

Camryn rolled her eyes.

"Hey Xerxes, wanna play the fiddle?"

"No thank you."

Wasabi came home, confident that she would be beating Joe in this coming election.  She'd been out meeting and greeting her constituents and greasing palms.

Camryn looked up in surprise. "Andres! How'd you get inside?!"

"Door was open," he told her, shuffling through the dining area.  "Is Wasabi in her room?"
"Andres! Just who I want to see!" Wasabi said coyly.

He nodded. "I got your note.  What can I do for you?" he asked.

She outlined her plot that would cement her as the victor.  She'd heard through the grapevine that Joe was planning on announcing an accord with the Zombies with Gretchen as his poster child.

"That's where you come in," she told him.  "Everyone loves you!"

Andres shrugged. "So, what's in it for me?" he asked.
"Why the adoration of all those women," she told him, grabbing his hand and kissing it.  "Including me!"

Andres eyes' sparked with interest.

"So, do we have a deal?" she pressed, kissing up his arm.
"We have a deal," he promised her, then tugged her into his arms.

"Wow," she said as they snuggled in bed, basking in the afterglow.  "You certainly live up to your reputation!"
"You know what they say," he bragged. "You haven't lived until you've been with the undead!"

Somehow Vivi missed the carpool.  Unfortunately, no one in the house seemed to notice.
"I can't believe they fired me!" she cried to Aunt Camryn.
"Don't worry sweetie, you can always do something else!" Camryn said, hugging the distraught girl.

Vivi sniffled. "But I won't be able to get another job in architecture!" she wailed.

"We'll make do," Camryn assured her.  "You never know what's going to happen in the future!"

YES!
Vivi opened the helicopter door like the boss she was, full of sass and attitude.  She felt like a  million bucks!
Not only had she managed to take down Joe Carr, but she'd reached the Top of her Career and unlocked Politics! The work force was never going to be the same!  She sauntered home.

Restrictions Lifted:
Sims no longer get fired for missing a day at work
Sims can be re-employed if they lose employment in a career (Yay Vivi!)
Elders may retire
You may ignore chance cards
Everyone can use podium

*AN: YES! I did a happy dance when she got that awesome chance card. I was pretty nervous, but she turns into an elder tomorrow and still had a lot of skills to master to get TOC.  Her turnoff is Zombie, but she and Andres have 2 bolts with each other.  How's that for irony? Lol. Plus, he happens to be the first Sim NOT to reject her! It apparently did wonders for her self-esteem!

Poor Xerxes still needs 2 more creativity points. I was hoping he would autonomously use the fiddle, but he hasn't touched the thing. It's driving me batty!

I put the restrictions lifted, hopefully that helps readers that haven't read through the loooooong list of rules! ;)  The good thing is that Vivi can now re-join architecture! I'm ready for more space! Especially with all these kiddos!

  1. YES!! VIVI YOU ARE *SO* LUCKY! That is so awesome! My sims have gotten kicked out their jobs several times because of those despicable chance cards. Also, BAD WASABI! Leave Andres alone! BAD! (I love Vivi and Vito! They act like siblings!)

    1. I forget they're cousins sometimes! I actually realized that the spare's children can't unlock restrictions right now. Only the heir, the heir's spouse and the heir's children. :( Vivi and Urbain are gonna kick back and relax until the Law career is opened.

  2. Oh yay that’s brilliant! Way to go Wasabi! She and Andres celebrated well!
Fab for Vivi too and I’m glad her and Vito are friends again! Maybe he’ll get lucky with Meadow next time.
Poor Xerxes, he needs some fun in his life doesn’t he in order to skill up, :D

  3. Oh, Xerxes was all good, except for creativity, the one skill he COULD do autonomously, and it would be fun, too, and he just won't do it? Grrrr!

Why couldn't Vivi and Urbain lift restrictions? I looked at the rules, and it says that spares and their children can lift restrictions. But maybe you're thinking of the Pinstar rules, where spares can only lift restrictions while they still live at home, and spares' children can't lift restrictions, at all.

But you get extra drama, extra time, and that's a good thing for the story, so if you do that rule, you can enjoy that extra drama goodness, right? Yay! After all, you're allowed to make it more complicated, like adding the Middle of Nowhere handicap, which I actually quite like, too. You really have to plan as you build. It takes forethought. Sometimes, I build as I want on an empty lot, just to help me plan, and then use that design, already tweaked the way I want it, and try to hold that in my head as I slowly build over time. But I usually forget that the stairs can't be placed next to a wall, and you have to do stairs first, and then the wall, so I have to waste days removing the wall, and then placing the stairs and then putting the wall back. I'm a bad builder.

    1. Hm, I thought that it had to be the main heir, spouse & kids that could lift restrictions. Lol.

Yes! Double the drama! Double the fun! Lol.

I have spent a lot of time trying to plan houses. Thank goodness for all the talented builders who share! <3
